Went for my yearly type 2 diabetes eye checkup. Ms Lappen found a horseshoe tear in my retina and within minutes she had an appointment with Retina Vitreous C onsultants for me for eye surgery. Had Lazer surgery which closed the retina tear and saved my eyesight!!!! THANK YOU LAPPEN FOR BEING THOROUGH AND TAKING SUCH GOOD CARE OF THIS 72 YEAR OLD!!!!

I have brought my children here for their eye exams for the past two years. They are patient and gentle with my younger kids, which, many places are not welcoming for kids. They also are considerate of the cost of glasses and will work with you and within the insurance restrictions and limitations.

I called this morning as a new patient with an eye issue . They got me in within an hour . Everyone was very nice and professional. I definitely will be making the change .

Ive been seeing Dr. Richard Lappen for 46 years. Great atmosphere and very friendly. Stephanie his wife did my glasses and of course we talked. I hope Dr. Lappen works for as long as I need him. I wouldn't change a thing. Robin is still there doing the insurance billing. If there are mistakes, my eyes are still dilated.

Dr. Drexler was amazing. She truly took the time to listen to my concerns and provided excellent, thorough care. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate and attentive doctor.

Brand new remodeling. They have so much more room and they have a great selection of frames to choose from. Dr Lappen is great! He gives a very thorough exam, and he takes his time with you and will answer any questions and address any concerns that you may have. I highly recommend him if you want a top notch eye exam! Also the staff is very professional and courteous.

I lost my glasses in a car accident on the 25th of April. Losing my car for this whole month has derailed my life, since I rely heavily on my car for everything, including income. I knew I needed new glasses fast, but I had no idea where I was going to get them since money was beyond tight and I have no wheels to get anywhere. I happened to pass Lappen Eye Care while walking to the grocery store earlier this month, so I took it as a sign and entered the facility to see what was what. They took me in for an eye exam on the 15th, which was great. The exam went really well and the staff there was incredibly polite and highly professional. My glasses were ready in 10 days and they called me to come pick them up. The case they gave me is sweet and the glasses are more than I could have hoped for considering what I paid. Highly recommended if you are in the area and need new glasses. They know what they are doing.

I began seeing Dr Lappen when I was in 3rd grade at Southmoreland Elementary School and he came and did an awesome presentation for the entire school. I begged my mom to take me to see him. I was fascinated that he spoke almost as fast as the micro-machines commercial guy lol. But as cool as as that was, his bedside manner was even more amazing. As a little kid at his first eye doctor's appointment he had me laughing in no time and the exam was a breeze. I'm now 47 years old and he is still my eye doctor and his son is doing a great job of keeping his legacy going. I would recommend Dr Lappen to anyone of any age as he has the unique ability to put anyone at ease in no time. Thanks for all the years of care and concern Dr Lappen and staff. Here's to many more.

My family has been going to Lappen Eye Care for around 30 years. Dr. Richard Lappen continues to watch over my glaucoma like I was a member of his own family. His son Jonathan Lappen is also very caring and professional. Other staff including Robin and John are gems. I wouldn't trust my vision to anyone else.

Very satisfied with my first visit that I brought my son in also. Dr.Richard is very knowledgeable and kind. He did well for my son who has some sensory issues. He also did a good job with me. All the other workers were also kind and friendly.

Dr.Matetic listened intently and was able to resolve a longstanding eye issue that others misdiagnosed over and over.Cannot say enough about the care and expertise experienced at the South Hills office by Dr. Matetic and the staff.

The people at this location were so VERY kind, social and EXTREMELY HELPFUL!! The manager Tonya was an absolute doll and helped me find the kind of glasses that I not only love but she also took the time and had patience helping me find a pair that makes me feel as good on the inside as they make me look on the outside! Will be coming back again and telling everyone I know asking or looking for glasses that you can find your best friend in someone at this location, someone who wants you to feel good about what glasses you buy and thinks about your best interest! Edit- my review is for the one in the south hills Best place for glasses in the city. Perfectly ran by some amazing ladies that don’t mess around and get you the best price under your insurance. I got some sick ray bans for $100 and change and my last glasses with insurance cost me $400 at another place

Excellent service. Everyone was really friendly and despite being busy, no one seemed to have to wait for a rally long time. The doctor I saw explained everything to me that I asked and was very patient. Definitely recomm3ended for a good eye doctor!

This is an old-fashioned small business that knows how to treat customers right. And they really know what they're doing. While I was there I saw many people come in needing various things. All of them left happy. Edit: We've now bought glasses here three times. Still a great place for it. Dr Lappen is highly enthusiastic about his work and puts a lot into it. I always get what I expect, and I've never come across a bad frame in their selection. You will pay more here than if you went to Walmart. But I think you also get more.

I stumbled on Lappen Eye Care one Saturday when I was experiencing a vision disturbance and needed urgent care. I was seen immediately, by the most helpful and friendly staff. I made the decision to switch myself and my son to their care immediately. Dr. Lappen is SO patient and explains everything in great detail, even to my son. The front office staff are so wonderful. Highly recommend.

I found this location based off of a google search and I am so thankful I did. Dr. Lappen was amazingly friendly and informative during my appointment. Additionally, Mandy and Linda were incredibly helpful with not only helping me understand my insurance (I'm a 24 year-old student who gets insurance through the gov't and it rarely makes sense to me) but also in finding new frames. They pulled out frames that fit perfectly to the description I explained and even helped me narrow them down to decide on the perfect pair for me. Highly recommend based off of friendliness, professionalism, and the level of help they were willing to give!

I'm usually annoyingly picky about my frames, but the selection at this store is incredible. I usually find two, rarely three, frames that 'work' and pick one. At Lappen, I think I found 6 or 7, and couldn't help but leave with two frames. I definitely know where I'm shopping for glasses in the future. They are a little slow about adding prescription lenses, but who cares when I'll be wearing them the next 2 years or so.

Easy to make an appointment and they can get you in quickly. All of the staff/docs there were super friendly during our visit. The eye doctors take their time to explain things clearly if you have questions. I take all four of my kids to this location now and will continue to do so.

Folks let me tell you…. After some issues that had been resolved…. I must say that everyone from Christine, Denise, the staff at McMurray and even Greensburg and Pittsburgh locations up to Dr. Johnathon Lappen himself… They all came through to rectify the issue and made sure that I was completely happy and satisfied with the end results. Special thanks to Christina and Denise as they were initially the first of who had greeted me with such kindness and respect from the very beginning.. Also, thanks to Dr. Johnathon Lappen who had personally called me and met with me to make sure I was taken care of… And to all the staff and team members … Thank you all again for a great result!
